VTCT Skills Level 3 Award in Adult Basic Life Support, AED and Management of Anaphylaxis

Who is this qualification for?

The VTCT Skills Level 3 Award in Adult Basic Life Support, AED and Management of Anaphylaxis is aimed at those learners who have an interest or responsibility to attain knowledge and practical competences required to provide basic life support and manage anaphylaxis in emergency situations. This qualification can also be used to support the prerequisite requirements for VTCT Skills Aesthetic suite of qualifications.

The certificate validity period is 3 years.

What does this qualification cover?

The qualification covers the following areas in line with the First Aid at Work Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, Guidance on Regulations (L74) Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines:

• Assessing emergency situations
• Provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
• Provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
• Provide first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis

Through this qualification the learner will develop the knowledge and practical competences required to deal with an adult who is unresponsive or experiencing an anaphylactic reaction.

What could this qualification lead to?

Learners who achieve this qualification will be able to provide basic life support and management of anaphylaxis in emergency situations. Additionally, learners may wish to undertake further study in:

• Emergency first aid
• First aid at work
• Emergency Paediatric First Aid (EPFA)
• Other basic life support qualifications

Pre-requirements: There are no formal prerequisite qualifications that the learner must have prior to undertaking this qualification.
